calender sync

I just got a new ipad air 2 and I cannot get my calender to sync with my imac. I've connected both to icloud and have the calenders turned on, but my ipads calender still does not show the events that are on my imac's calender. What am I doing wrong?

Check your settings: Are you signed into iCloud using the same Apple ID and password on both your iPad Air 2 and Mac? Do you have iCloud drive turned on from your iPad Air 2? Have you gone into System Preferences on your Mac, selected iCloud, and then place a check in the box for syncing calendars? (and whatever else you wish to sync such as contacts, notes, etc.)
