Just got the money for the imac, quick question

Well, just got the money for the imac 17 inch with a gig of ram and my education discount. I just bought a nikon d50 adn some lenses, so i am using this for all normal stuff plsu aperture one it becomes unoversal hopefully in the next month and video stuff too. I jsut wanted to make sure that a gig fo ram would be enough to run aperture, or do i need 2 gigs?

One Gig should work but if you are going to do a lot of Photo Editing with say Photoshop and Aperture I would go for 2 GB if you can later. OSX LOVES RAM and the more the better!

how many ram ports does the imac have, 2 im guessing? if so, mab i should get the 1 gig stick versus 2 512, then i can upgrade later without having to buy 2 gigs

The new Intel iMacs have 2 DDR2 slots. It takes 2 PC-5300 DDR2 667Mhz sticks. If you intend later to upgrade to 2GB yes, get a 1GB now or course.

I just ordered a 512 stick for imac. If you intend on upgrading it yourself, keep in mind it uses a 200pin stick not 240.
