infected with something?

web pages are jumping up and down, tab icons are blinking, mac x pop ups everywhere. ran disk utility. it started again. connected to the apple server and reinstalled the OS. it started again. emptied the hard drive caches - library and system library - they begin to refill within seconds. turned the computer off. upon restarting, the progress bar is stuck almost halfway under the apple logo. what to do?

Download AdWareMedic and run a scan. When all is good download AdBlockPlus and Ghostery and enable in Safari Preferences.

Run Adwaremedic and Clamxav and you should be good to go. Also try a pop up blocker.
