hey guys, i was trying to upgrade my iMac G5 with an new ssd drive. since I put it in I couldnt get it to start from the install cd Mac OS X . it only showed blackscreen with "no bootable device, insert bootdisc and press any key". i was stuck on that screen now, then i erased the pram via CMD-OPT-P-R. after that I got a whutescreen with a folder/questionmark flashing.

FYI : commans which didnt work: entering OpenFirmware not possible
entering boot menu (pressing OPT key) gave me only whitescreen with the mouse cursor

appreciate your help !!

What sort of OS install disk are you trying to use?

Did the iMac G5 work fine before you installed the SSD? Are you sure it's installed correctly with both cables firmly seated?

Also is this the iMac G5 with the ISight camera or older model?

When you were inside, did you by chance remove the flat ribbon cable from the DVD drive if it's the iSight model?
