I am trying to cut & Paste photo an email and have tried click and drag but only the file/photo name is copied not the image - same with 'commandC and Command V' - as well as copy/paste. The image number or photo is pasted but not the image.photo. Any ideas please? Many thanks.

iPhoto allows you to "share" pictures by email. Click the share button (box with arrow pointing up) bottom right corner then select Mail in Share and a blank email will result with the picture/s attached. (Check in iPhoto General preferences that "Email Photos using Mail is selected).
Alternatively drag the photos you want to email from the iPhoto window to the desktop then use the "attachment" button in Mail to select the pictures from the desktop.
The "share option is probably better though because it gives you the opportunity to resize the images before sending.
