I just got a mac mini a1176 and I downloaded minecraft fresh off the site. I started it up, it downloaded, I clicked play, that part downloaded, but right as the game was about to come up it closed and the launcher came back up saying:

I just got a mac mini a1176...

This model designation refers to 5 different Mac-Mini models. To figure things out…it may help to know the exact Mac-Mini model you have. Also…let us know how much ram it has.

Thanks for the info. Sorry…there was one other bit of info I should have asked for…and that's what OS version is it running?

This Mac-Mini is an older model from September, 2006. From my searching…it appears to meet the Minecraft hardware system requirements. In that searching Java is mentioned quite a bit. So unless you know for sure…make sure you have the newest version of Java installed that the Mini supports.

The reason why I asked what OS version it's running. The newer the OS version…maybe the newer the Java version it can run. Which may help overall.

Max. OS for this Mini is 10.6.8.

First I would (if you want to) update the OS to 10.6.8.

As far as what to do then. I suggested above to make sure the computer has the latest version of Java installed (that it will support). The latest Java update it will support I think will come with the list of updates that will accompany the OS update to 10.6.8.

Not sure what my problem is, but it won't let me download the new software. I check for software updates, it finds five updates, downloads them, and asks me if I want to restart my computer now. But whether I click "restart now" or "not now" and then restart manually, it just displays the original desktop, the space picture, and the mouse is still there but nothing else is. Then it just sits there and won't do anything, I can move the mouse, and any key that I press on the keyboard just makes a noise except for the windows button (I am using a windows keyboard).
