i need freeware to convert mpg to any format which is compatible to idvd for burning a dvd.Please guide me

iDVD is an older program so I am not familiar with it. I did find this link that talks about what will work with iDVD:

From what I am reading an mpg file should not need converting. Unless you can be more specific. There are people on the forum who have used it.
