Whats the best way to do a out of box state when passing a Mac to a new owner? I read that you can do it once you reinstall the OS at the welcome screen, is this the easiest way? I have the OS already installed.
Hey, I think I sorted it. When I reinstalled OS after erasing HD etc I shut it down once it got to the welcome screen. I am hoping the process should be okay when the new owner starts up the machine and its starts from were I left off at the welcome screen.
Do not forget to disconnect it from you iTunes and iCloud accounts. The second link Ian provided you has an Apple Support site that tells you how to do that.
Reinstalling OS X does not do that as the mac's serial number is what associates it with any account it is connected to.
