Yup!! It's just a mind boggling conspiracy as to how all the coincidental events just happened to coincide. Almost as if the stars were in some special alignment, a conspiracy to be sure…

Yeah, the temperature sensor was recommend by a lifehacker article ( I had to find it on the OWC site) to prevent the fans from being on high speed all the time. I followed the instructions exactly as they recommended, however the instructions are Apple model specific not hard drive specific.

Customer support acknowledged that this can be an issue, if you place the OWC sensor on the spindle (as the video instructs) it can stick too far out on some hard drives and cause issues.
