convert MP4 to .mov

can anyone advise best and simplest way to convert MP4 to .mov file to use in imovie please

iPad Pro 12.9 latest iOS
What version of iMovie are you running.
I am running v10.0.8 and can import MP4 files without any issues directly into iMovie.

Hi version 8.0.6 but i have been informed that in order to play MP4 files in imovie it has to be converted to .mov file first as imovie does not recognise MP4

any advice would be appreciated the movie clips are from a Mi-Witness dash camera recorded on internal micro sd card

Hello - you might want to provide some more information on: 1) Why you need to do this conversion; 2) What iMovie version do you have installed (assume for OS X and not iOS); and 3) What computer do you own?

In the meantime, just google 'mp4 conversion to mov' - there will be plenty of hits on software converters, many of which are free - Dave :)

Have you actually tried to import am mp4 file into iMovie yet?
