Well, all I can tell you is that I never had a problem with overheating and excessive fan speeds. And it should be noted that the iMac Fan Control should only really be used when a non standard (non Apple) hard drive is replaced in the 2010 and 2011 iMacs. iMac Fan Control makes up for the lack of the heat sensor on the proprietary hard drives that Apple uses in those models.
