I've been struggling with this issue for days. I've cycled sharing off and on both Apple TV and my mid 2010 iMac. I've changed computer name, and sharing name. My Apple TV is on a wired lan. I assigned a static IP I opened the recommended ports in my router. I've restarted routers. I can ping the Apple TV from the iMac. I can mirror from my iPad. Cycled home sharing in both places in iTunes. My Apple TV 2 worked perfectly on Snow Leopard. After Yosemite it couldn't connect, I tried buying a new 3rd gen Apple TV same problem. Apple TV is updated and is my iMac.
Apple TV recognized when I changed the name of my iTunes library but can not connect to it.

TIA

Let me know if you come up with a fix.
