Mac Mail Compressing Photos

I am trying to send a photo full size to someone. I add the pic as an attachment and send it but the recipient receives at as a tiny 4k thumbnail. Everything look fine my side. I expressly ask mail to send large, yet it get seriously compressed anyhow.

In my version of Mail, 8.2, when I attach an image a box appears on the right side offering me options on size to send. To send full size, there is an option for that. You didn't say what version OS or Mail, but you can look to see if that box appears if you are on Yosemite 10.10 and Mail 8.2.

I have selected large and actual size, but still it compresses them. I have version 8.2
