I have a linksys e4200 router. Is it typically possible to dis-allow a device by their MAC address instead of their IP address? We want to dis-allow our son from having internet access from his ipod touch. Maybe I am going about this wrong, but that is my idea. Thoughts? Thanks.

You can setup your router to only accept connection from certain MAC addresses, however, what good does that do if your son takes his Touch to where he can gain free WiFi access? Free WiFi is available almost everywhere from McDonalds to department stores.

You might also be able to reserve an IP address for his MAC address and then impose restrictions based on that IP address.

That is a good idea as well, you two, but he could play the resend/re-obtain an ip address to go around that by getting another address. hence the MAC address idea. Chscag, It sucks that some of the games need internet access to run. I hear you loud and clear! At least not from home.
