Cursor and mouse

The cursor is not following the mouse. It is erratic. It may jump completely away or it may freeze. Any ideas, please?

Which mouse do you have? That's usually the sign of a dirty or defective mouse - the best way to test it is to try another.

Thank you. That seems to be the answer. Now that you mentioned it, I notice that the wiring going into it is suspect.
