Microsoft announced on March 21st that the consumer editions of Windows Vista will be delayed until January 2007, with the professional versions shipping in November 2006.

What's Microsoft up to? Did they find a serious flaw? Do they want a last minute peak at OS 10.5 Leopard? Or are they just incompetent?

I think this is good news for Apple, now more people will be inclined to buy Macs for the Christmas rush since they'll be sporting a brand new OS and who knows what else.

Just sounds like typical Microsoft to me.

They always seem to delay and delay new software.

Then it is well named since the dictionary defines vista as something seen at a distance.

That's when Microsoft was saying Vista was slated for the 4th quarter of 2006, but regardless, Apple is not likely to base the release of Leopard on the release of Vista. Apple will probably not change their plans at all, they'd have no reason to, unless I suppose they wanted to shoehorn some extra features in since they'd have time and still be able to beat Vista. Oh well.

and in 2007 we are going to hear that they pushed it back again.. I think they are not going to get it out for a while, as I have read they are having problems, specifically with the GUI. (I would post a link with where I read that, but I honestly don't know somebody at school showed me)

Haha, I don't think I can keep up with an OS update every 5 years. But hey, even if MS stole even more ideas from Apple with Vista, it'd be cool. Because now Windows users get some more Apple functionality in their OS too!

What did they steal exactly? did they steal media centre and call it front row?

Xp is nearly 5 years old and i can still do everything you want and do, everything you can do on a Mac and then some.

its amazing that the latest OSX is not really that much more advanced then XP and XP is still more advanced in some cases.

Looks like about 60% of the Code for Vista will have to be rewritten from scratch. M$ is even stealing folks from the X-Box program to help out.
