Software updates taking forever

Hey there guys, I am presently doing an update but it is loading about 1 to 2 mbs. per second, even though 10 mins ago i downloaded a 6 gb game in 45 mins. Please respond soon, it is now saying i have to wait 1 day and 2 hours.
Specs:
Macbook Pro Mid 2012, 8gb ram I7 processor

Just a tip - you'll want to wait more than 30 minutes to bump a thread (it doesn't come across well on a volunteer forum).

Did you download that game from the same place that you got the update (I'm assuming that this one came from the Mac App Store)? Given that different servers offer different connection speeds (not to mention the various other things between you and the end of the line), a difference in speed isn't all that uncommon.

And consider it isn't all at your end. How many downloads etc taking place, different servers and other things will take an effect on your download speed.

I tried doing the update again about 3 hours later and it worked like a charm thanks for reponding guys and I think you 2 were right about the connection speed and that many updates might be done at the same time
