Safari crashes when I try to open it.

This has been happening for like a year.

I open Safari
It opens for 5-10 seconds
It crashes

That's it. There's no dialog box telling me anything. It's just gone. It happens 90% of the time I try to use Safari.

Any way to fix this?

Have you tried a Repair Permissions from within Disk Utility? Do you run Onyx over your computer and I trust you are not running Mackeeper, CleanMyMac etc? Also are you running antivirus software?

You are using the current Safari version and here have no problems at all. Having said that in this day and age always have a second browser in your Application Folder. I have Firefox and if it behaved similarly, something wrong in hardware or with your router.

I have Repaired Permissions.
I don't run Onyx or Mackeeper.
I have an antivirus.

It's been acting like this, I think since I updated to Yosemite. I have been using Chrome for years. I just wanted to switch to Safari, and thought there might have been a fix by now.

No fixes no problems and been using Yosemite since beta release one last June. I do a cleans install each and every time a new operating system is released however. Try disabling your AV. You from a Windows background running AV?

I restored my computer when I upgraded to Yosemite. That's when Safari started acting up.

I uninstalled my AV. The problem still persists. :'(

Is there a way to completely uninstall/install Safari?

But try a volume repair and verify with Disk Utility and don't forget to do a complete shutdown and then boot up.

You might even want to try booting up using Safe Boot Mode and do some testing and see if there's any improvement.

And maybe even a SMC and PRAM reset… i.e.: some maintenance procedures…
