My Imac 27" 3.4ghz I7 with 2gb Vram has problem with the Thunderbolt ports and it looks like I have to change the logicboard. I cannot get the same logic board but I can get a 2013 3.5ghz I7. Will that work and can I transfer over my old I7 3.4ghz CPU?

I cannot get the same logic board…

How come? Was the original logic board customized in some way that makes is rare or unavailable?

From my research…the 3.4ghz CPU was a "Core i5" (not Core i7). Only the 3.5ghz CPU was a Core i7 (maybe I'm wrong).

But regardless…the CPU is socketed…so give it a try.:)
