PDF Conversions to Word for editing book

I have a Mac, 10.10.2, Pages 09, I am an author, have my book in PDF Format/Layout, need to convert to edit, Adobe can convert to Word, can I then edit and format any way I wish?

I have opened a pdf using Adobe Acrobat X Pro and saved it as a Word document then opened it up in Word 2013. The document retained all formatting, embedded pictures, and borders. I could edit text just fine in the Word document.

Thanks Lisa, I downloaded the free trial version of Acrobat 11 Pro, no restrictions, that should do it.
