Can I create a bootable disk backup on the same USB drive that I use for the time machine? Would this require partitioning the drive?
Thanks

Yes, it would require partitioning the drive.

However, don't see much point in keeping a bootable clone and a TM backup on the same drive unless you have a regular practice of deleting stuff that you then need to go back and retrieve. Drive dies, you lose both backups.
