My Canoscan 9000F Mark II will not scan after loading latest Yosemite 10.10.2. Apparently Apple's Image Capture.app will not exchange information with Canon's IJ Scan Utility. I get the message. "The file could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." When dumping the file into PhotoShop Elements an additional message reads,"Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT, or DHT JPEG marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker."

Now I have to go directly to Apple's "Image Capture."

I think Apple needs to fix this.

Why does Apple need to fix it? You should be doing your homework before upgrading OS X to make sure that your devices and programs will work with the new version. Canon is the one who needs to "fix it" not Apple. If Image Capture won't work, try VueScan.
