transfer flash drive/usb drive

Hi
I am using a macbookair and cannot find out how
I can transfer a file to a flash/usb drive?
I am pretty new at this. thanks for any help

Attach the flash drive or external hard drive to your MacBook Air via USB. You should then see the flash drive or external hard drive appear on your desktop. Open Finder, find the file and then drag it and drop on the flash drive or external hard drive.
