IOS 8.1.3 text messages

About 6 weeks ago, I updated to Yosemite on my Macbook Pro. Then, two weeks after that, I got a new iPhone6 with IOS 81.3. My messages are not syncing between the two. I've read that I should have an option to "forward messages" on my Macbook Pro that has to be turned on. I can't find that option. I'm unable to sync my messages.
