Strange characters in mail preview

I've just experienced something weird with mail on my iPhone 6:

The preview of a message shows as non-English characters. You can see the rest of the thread is showing ok (I blurred the details). When I open the strange email the contents is in English characters as you would expect.

Anyone else experienced this? I'm on iOS 8.1.3

I'm having the same problem. Did you ever figure out what the issue was?

Sorry, no. But it stopped happening quite quickly so I didn't sweat it.
