I would like to add a SSD to my mid-2010 iMAC so that it runs with both SSD and HDD. While I will not opt for fusion drive, I wonder whether I could install both OSX and bootcamp to SSD to maximise the OSX & Windows performance.

Anyone who had this experience could share whether it is feasible? I wonder if I could create a partition in SSD for bootcamp and the remaining for OSX. Is that working?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Have done it previously Tim, but be aware you will need a 256GB SSD, as 128 or so is not big enough. The Windows partition, like the OS X partition, needs adequate free space to operate anywhere near efficiently. From memory I used a 150GB OS X and 100GB BootCamp partitions.

Even then there is very limited space if you use iTiunes, iPhoto or download movies.
