Conect Mac with smartphone Samsung S4

Hi,
I just arrive to the world of Android and smartphones, with Samsung S4.
Often the connection USB has worked with Ubuntu PC.
When I connect it to my Mac, the S4 makes a sound but does not appear in the Mac.
This is a VGA 667
Computer Model : PowerBook 3.3
Processor Type : PowerPC G4 ( 2.1)
Processor speed: 667 MHz
SDRAM Memory: 768 MB
Version of the Boot ROM : 4.2.9f1
System version : Mac OS X 10.4.11.

In the S4, I found "storage", but it only indicates the use of space. Ther is no touch to activate the mode " storage " on the phone .

a small USB icon appears in the top bar, nothing comes if I touch it.

I don't find USB connection mode in the settings...

I did find a utility Android transfer, but it does'nt work on Tiger.


What happens ?
How to do*?
Ideas, please .

I have a Super Strong feeling this is the problem. Really old Mac computer and really old Mac OS version (10.4.11).

You really cannot expect a 2013 Smart phone to "play well" with a 14 year-old Apple laptop running a 10 year-old version of the Mac OS. Sorry.

I try to do with what I have. & I always expect a better world, even with machines.

Well, now on a MBP, with Mavericks 10,9,6, nothing nor apperas or comes in the Mac. Kies or DoubleTwist detect the S4 connected & fail to show their files or documents.

With Ubuntu, as soon as it is plugged in, files appear directly in the file manager.

Can somebody help?

Read through the following thread in the Apple Discussions Forum. One of the responses say not to use Kies but rather use the Google Android transfer program.

Yes, Android File Transfer works !
It has only a basic list presentation & is better than nothing.
a Happy moment ! after weeks waiting.

Meanwhile, if other more friendly way is possible, I'll take it.

I seriously doubt you will (short of Ubuntu) find a more "friendly" method given how old your equipment and OS is. But congratulations on keeping it all working for so long. It sort of aligns itself with my policy of "if it aint broke don't fix it."

A broad rule of thumb that is generally, the path to avoiding a bunch of headaches and frustration: brand new accessory/peripheral/device + computer older than five-six years = BAD IDEA.
