software update download problem

by error I found I had installed my canon printer twice! I run OS X yosimite . After I removed one of the instalations through System Preferences the first instalation continued to run my printer fine. BUT now I get the same update for printer twice! one downloads and installs , the second will not do either. It constantly nags me to update ..How do I remove and stop happening every time update is due? Any help would be great .

This can be a bit tricky depending upon the app making the notification and whether it is an Apple product or not. Have a look at these suggestions and see which works best in your case.

Thanks for reply . I tried all suggested on that site but nothing worked . I will keep trying untill I go completely bonkers , then I wont care about updates . LOL
