I use Exchange categories for a cloud syncing tool for work. This is easy to manage in Outlook by simply clicking on the relevant categories.

I'm trying to switch to Mail/Contacts/Calendar and this functionality doesn't seem to exist. Is there a workaround?

Am I the only one trying to use categories in Mail? It was this very group that tried to convince me to skip MS Office in favor of the Apple core apps (in the Switcher group). I was certain someone here had found a solution. Anyone?

I do not know of a way to assign exchange categories to cards in Apple Contacts nor do I think it's possible using the current format. I realize MS Outlook for Mac is a version one app and leaves a lot to desire. Have you thought about an Office 365 subscription for the Mac? It includes a new version of Outlook and the older MS Office Mac 2011 apps in addition to Office apps for Windows.

Thanks for the reply. I have Office 365 but that doesn't solve my issue.

My company just subscribed to a new marketing tool (HubSpot). They have a cool add-in called SideKick which allows me to track sent mail. Unfortunately the add-in for Mac only works on Apple Mail.

I was trying to give Apple Mail a real chance (after stubbornly sticking with Office for 2 years) but there are just some things that don't line up.

Thanks again for your help.

What things don't line up for you? I'm not a power user of Mail by any means but sometimes it takes a bit of massaging to get Mail to do some things really well.

Two things bug me. The theme of this thread (lack of support for Exchange categories) and not seeing the calendar in the meeting invite. In Outlook the message includes a sidebar calendar so you can see how the requested meeting lines up in your day. Since Mail and Calendar are separate, I haven't found a way to make this happen.
