So I have a iMac 2006 and I am having a little problem with that it is starting to give me more and more the wheel of death more often. I am not afraid of looking into changing out the hard drive my self,(I already added more memory). but the question is. Would it be worth it. Putting money aside... (I would buy the simple 27). And if I reacher some more about doing it myself and find that its just to much should I take it to BestBuy of Apple? What I am I really getting with buying the new. I don't game and all I really do is pay bills and surf the net. Thanks

A 2006 iMac is certainly getting on in age (8-9 years old). Depending on your budget (and the computing tasks you mentioned)…you probably don't need a brand new 27" iMac. You could get:

- a new 21" iMac
- a used Macintosh (newer than what you have…but not brand new)

Something to think about.
