In my recently acquired PowerMac G4, I'm running the stock GeForce4 MX - I'm thinking about upgrading the card to imrove the generally usablity of the machine. Are there any inexpensive cards that support Quartz Extreme/Core Image? Thanks.

Believe it or not. A better video card may cost you more than the current value of a 13 year-old Powermac G4.

What I did about 4 years ago (maybe it was 5 or 6?) - in order to get Core Image, was buy a G5 user's original nVidia FX5200 ultra, and did surgery on it to use it in my G4 MDD. Back then, I got it for about $30 including shipping from eBay. The "surgery" procedure is on youtube and involves removing a couple of card edge connectors not used by regular/2x AGP. I used a dremel tool.

Big caveat - I don't see improvement, other than in Sys Info where it says "Quartz Extreme - Supported."
