How would I uninstall Apple Remote Desktop Client?

I accidentally installed this and now I'm getting nagged to install updates. I don't need this program and want it gone.

The "client" is built into the OS. You don't uninstall it - it is the portion of "System Preferences - Sharing" called "Remote Management. They only seem to put out updates for it about once every year or two - I recommend update it and forget it. As far back as I've been using OS X (which was 10.4) that has been just about the first update Apple has put out with every new version of OS X.

If you bought Apple Remote Desktop (you would know - it's $80) then you can google "uninstall Apple Remote Desktop" and get several walkthroughs.

PS: There are a lot of the parts of operating systems not all of us "need". I still don't recommend anyone start going in there and trying to remove bits and pieces of the OS and if you do, typically you're on your own.

I was surprised when updates wanted me to update remote access, in this age of hacking malpractice any talk about sharing makes my 0's and 1's stand on end. Needless to say I do not use cloud services. I looked over my settings for "sharing", what settings do you recommend?

If you don't need any sharing at all between devices, the simple answer here is to simply disable any and all sharing. You don't need any to use your Mac normally.

Or, the next time you're prompted for an update to something you don't want to update, find Ignore Update in the menu. Select the item, and you will never be bothered with a notice for it again.

I hate to keep flashing my noob card, but fortunately, I have not updated these yet, and I can not find that menu for ignore update. Earn a second reputation click?

My first question would be: Why Not?

Since you are admitting to be a noob - I would not recommend at all that you ignore updates.

While I have it turned off on my machine because I do go in and check with regularity for updates (as time permits and at least once a week if not more often), I do not allow my wife to have that turned off on her computer.

I do not want to turn off updates, I want to ignore updates on what we were talking about...

I think you can uninstall it if you dont need that app.

You have to do those individually. Any time one comes up that is clearly of no relevance, simply right click it and select the ignore option. I say this with some hesitation however as bobtomay is correct - as someone new to the platform and new to the types of updates available, you ought to do your best to let updates do their thing.
