Old music new computer

my new iMac 215 will not copy older music from my older Apple units. it seems to say it will only copy music purchased from iTunes. Surely there must be a method of get pre-Apple music in the ne w memory

Have you tried putting the old music on a USB Stick or external HD…then loading that music (from the USB stick or HD) onto the new computer?

Tried hard drives, iPods, & iPads & no luck

Of course your iMac will accept "old" digital music files, provided they are in standard formats.

Maybe your problem is that the music you are trying to move is protected files from a defunct Windows vendor or something?
