text to speech annoying "object replacement character"

prior OS, I only had to deal with "backspace" repeated numerous times, now with 10.10.1 they added "object replacement character" to the list of annoyance. Does anyone know how to turn OFF Apple's text to speech from reading backspaces and "object replacement character" The program doesn't read commas, periods, or other grammar so how can I get it not to read backspace and ORC??? thanks
