I have a second hand MacBook , mid 2007, 13", Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.16GHz and am having trouble with Safari. It won't open and I get the following message ……
'Safari cannot be opened because of a problem'
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.'
I have Safari 6.1.6 installed (and reinstalled).
I did open the report log and noticed the following lines which seemed to me to be relevant.

Process: Safari [310]
Path: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
Identifier: com.apple.Safari
Version: 6.1.6 (7537.78.2)
Build Info: WebBrowser-7537078002000000~1
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [166]

Date/Time: 2015-01-17 19:42:19.446 +0000
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.7.5 (11G63b)
Report Version: 9

Interval Since Last Report: 5766568 sec
Crashes Since Last Report: 91
Per-App Crashes Since Last Report: 3
Anonymous UUID: F35B75B8-DFF5-44ED-ADC9-D945117E95D0

Crashed Thread: 0

Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000

Application Specific Information:
dyld: launch, loading dependent libraries

Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/Accounts.framework/Versions/A/Accounts
Referenced from: /System/Library/StagedFrameworks/Safari/Safari.framework/Safari
Reason: image not found

The 2nd line down is a bit puzzling to me. Safari is located in Applications but what is /Contents/MacOS/Safari ?
Another part of the log under 'Library not loaded' I can follow the path only to Frameworks - it doesn't go any further than that.

I should mention that I think this machine originally started life as Snow Leopard
and I wonder should I just revert. It would have been upgraded by the previous owner who cannot now be found so I can't get hold of any disks he may have kept.

Thats about all I can give you….. any suggestions from anyone?
Many thanks
