Hi, I have an early 2009 Imac and recently it has started being temperamental.

It is shutting down randomly of its own accord and its a bit worrying to use it because of this. I use it for logic pro 9 so as you can imagine it is hard to rely on a machine in this state when making music.

Here are a series of the panic reports from when I last used it

Welcome to the Mac-Forums

You didn't include the entire panic report, some items are missing. We don't need several reports to view, just one complete report. From what you did include, I see nothing there definitive or that stands out. Include a complete report in your next post.

However, most kernel panics occur because of hardware errors. It could be graphics, memory, the hard drive, etc, that's causing the panic. As a suggestion, start up your iMac in safe mode (hold down shift key while booting) and let it run that way for awhile to see if it panics. Safe mode does a hardware check on the hard drive and suppresses all third party drivers and sound.

I had a similar problem with my 2009 imac..... Random shutdowns for no apparent reason. I found that I had an enormous number of files saved to the desktop (screen shots, etc). When I cleaned off about 100 files, the problem went away.

I have no idea what the problem actually was (or what tidying up my bad desktop habits did or didn't do). But who knows..... Maybe there was a corrupt files on the desktop and I just got lucky.

Having a few internet problems but thank you for your reply, this is a newer panic report..in full. These shutdown kernel panics happen several times within 5-10 minute intervals from start up. It has rendered the machine too unreliable to use. I will try the safe mode boots. thanks.

Hi,

I wish it was that.

This mac was been formatted not that long ago so it is unlikely it is that, but i will definitely try this out and hope to get lucky also!

Got the original Snow Leopard OS X,6 ystem discs. Pop in disc one and run pple Hardware Test. May be disc two, it will say on the disc. They changed the positiona round that time. AHT will check graphics, hard drive, memory etc. if you let it run the full test. It will take hours depending on how much memory you have installed.
