Hi, what role does Finder play with photo's? I have been cleaning up my computer and I want to make sure I can move to trash all the photo's that are in finder.

Finder is your Mac's filing system. All it does with your photos is store them. If you don't want those photos, them move them to the Trash.

Just be aware that if you do that, the photos are gone. Unless you have them stored in some other application database like iPhoto. As MightyGem said, Finder is just a filing system, like File Explorer in Windows. It shows you what files are on you computer.

Where? (path)
~(Home)/Pictures contains images that show up as the background for your Desktop, for example.

And some "Pictures" are the graphics that your applications need to display things. So you cannot just delete all pictures and be successful.
