Not sure if it is a hinge problem or a screen problem however, I wondered if replacing this might work: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+15-Inch+Unibody+Late+2008+and+Early+2009+Display+Assembly+Replacement/837 I've read in 2011-2013 Apple replaced some screens/hinges for people who have had the issue. My issue started in early 2014. Went to the Apple Store and they said it was a vintage product & they don't even carry the parts any longer :( Any advice would be helpful. Thanks much.

The answer is…replace bad/broken parts with good/working parts. If Apple won't fix it…then you have to.

With the info given it's difficult to determine what part is bad/broken.

Understood. Here are a couple photos - I believe it is still hard to tell. Appears screen is separating from the housing especially in the lower left. Thanks. mkc_mbphinge1_zpsbd3c6b79.jpg Photo by cincysaab95 | Photobucket

Did anything happen to this computer that this happened. Such as was it dropped?

Thanks for asking, Nick. No, the computer has never been dropped.

The hinges appear loose which is apparently the case of the problem. Does anyone know if I purchase this & replace it if it'll solve the problem? Thanks in advance.

Since you mentioned "separating"...I guess I thought you meant the glass was seperating from the display body/housing.

If it's the hinges that are loose. I have a 2011 13" MacBook Pro that I had to tighten the hinges on...all is good now 2 years later.:) This was a DIY job...so I'm not sure you're up for that. If so...go to ifixit.com to check out the procedure.
