Blurry Text

I was just given a Imac G3 vintage 2001 (I think). Not much good for anything but net and WP. Text is blurry though. Pictures are crisp and colorful but text is blurry. Is there something I can do about this. I am new to Macs and only know PC troubleshooting. Help!

I'm almost positive it's just the antialiasing difference between your PC and Mac. It is normal, and does take some time to get used to; but I'm sure someone can tell you how to disable it if you REALLY can't stand it.

What OS are you using on it?

Under OS 9, you can turn off Font Smoothing in the Appearance control panel. Under OS X, you can tweak the settings in System Preferences

This Imac G3 400, from 2001, is running OS 9.1. I can't find anything in the monitor/appearance control panel for font smoothing. Am I looking in the right place for that OS?
