One day I get 9% (or 17%, etc) battery life left on the keyboard (along with the death warning icon), the next, 100% good level. This happens with various brands, like running Duracells, a quality battery, so that's not it (real ones bought from a B&M facility). Has been going on since new. I get about 6 months life out of the batteries, so that meter is just about useless. Mouse meter seems to be accurate, oddly. Also, the level is written in grayscale, not sure if that's of any significance.

This is posted in the "Desktop" area. What battery are we talking about?

I think he's referring to the batteries in his wireless keyboard.

keyboard, yes. Was at 100% when I wrote the OP but now, after a log off, I got a notification for low batteries.

Batteries today were at 100%, then 17. I pulled them out 3X and took readings 92, 86 and 84 within a span of 2 mins. It's settled at 84. No real purpose to this post, just for entertainment.

Is this happening with new batteries?

Any chance the battery contacts inside the keyboard are dirty/coated with corrosion?

Yes new and it happens with all brands of batteries. It is now a day later and holding at 82% - a believable number.
