best email service

Searching for the best email service provider for a small business. NOT something free like GMail. Our current hosting company does a fine job for hosting our web site but their mail service is not friendly to Mac. Often one of our devices (all using IMAP) will not be able to connect to retrieve email. Out of the blue, iPad will not download email. Their support people say they have to "refresh" my mailbox and have said that "Apple keeps changing things so that is why your email won't function.) So we would like to leave our domain with them but move our email service to some company that is "Mac friendly" or at least doesn't stop working with a story that it's Apple's fault. Anyone have any recommendations. As I mentioned, it's for a business and we are often sending and receiving large engineering files so we need a professional email service.

There are lots of email providers that you can look at, however, I don't see a problem using something like Gmail, Yahoo, or even HotMail for business. All three provide excellent spam filtering and generally have no limits on storage. I've been using Gmail for private and business mail for years without any problems whatsoever. All three integrate very well with Apple Mail which is provided on your Mac.

Any "support" person that tells you that the fault lies with Apple for using a standard mail protocol like IMAP that EVERYONE uses instantly is lying. Rather than taking ownership of the issues that might reside on their side, they'd just rather blame Apple..

IMAP, POP and other protocols are well defined and DO NOT change just because a new version of an e-mail client came into existence..

Mail providers like GMail, Yahoo and Outlook do just that and do it very well. A big part of sending and receiving email is also dealing with SPAM. While you could go through the trouble of configuring that on your own provider with Spam Assassin or whatever is the latest technology for that, GMail for one has a very powerful spam filter that doesn't let much through and it learns quite nicely as well..

If you do want to switch to another provider, there are just too many out there to look at..
