broken charger port

Hi. I have a macbook that I bought in june 2010. The case broke a little and left the charger port slightly exposed. I think that this caused the charger port to break and now the computer won't charge. I see on the internet that they sell charger ports but I don't know if it's an easy fix. Can anyone help me out?

Hello and welcome to the forum! Might help to give us more information about your laptop, e.g. Pro or Air, model, year? For starters, go to iFixit and look for a guide for your specific machine and problem to get a feel about the steps and difficulty in replacing your charging port - come back to this thread if you have further questions.

Now you're also 'out of warranty' and Apple may not even want to look at one of their older laptops - so you might want to search out a local authorized Apple repair shop for an estimation if you do not want to 'tackle' the replacement. Dave
