I am planning on buying a new mac mini..But i have concerns about it being underpowered. I cannot afford the higher end mac mini and I Wanted to know if the 1.4ghz i5 mini would be comparable to the 2ghz core 2 duo model

The I5 Mini should dust the C2D 2.0 Ghz in everything. I own a 2.16Ghz C2D Mini and got a friend a dual core i5 MBP and the MBP walked all over the Mini. The C2D is very old today and any I5 should take it apart!

If you get one just be sure to get all the RAM you feel you will ever need as with the new Minis it's Non User Replaceable! I would get at least 8GB.

And also, just simply for the sake of asking, what do you guys think about the chromebooks? the $200 one to be specific..I realize this is a mac forum, but ****, figured i'd ask

Of course no problems asking.:) But a new thread probably would have been better since this question is not related to the original thread question.:)

I bet that you would have gotten answers.:) But it's possible that with two subjects in the same thread…replies could bouch back & forth between the Mac-Mini question and the Chromebook question…possibly making things confusing.

A separate thread keeps things better organized.:)
