My late 2011 13" MBP is on its 3rd AC adapter/charger - Apple MacBook Pro A1150 Laptop Adapter (16.5 Volt, 3.65 Amp, 60 Watt - Replacement Laptop Adapter ) but now this one is also heating up alarmingly regardless of where I plug it in - surge protector, wall socket, extension cord, inverter - it doesn't matter, just gets hotter and hotter until I unplug it.

That's not normal. If your MacBook Pro is going thru chargers at that rate, then there is another problem likely causing the chargers to overdraw current, heat up, and fail. Have you taken your MacBook Pro to Apple and have them run diagnostics on it? Also I'm assuming you're buying and using genuine Apple MagSafe Charger Adapters and not third party cheap knock offs which are known to fail prematurely.

When you say that your computer in on it's 3rd charger. Are you saying that the previous two actually failed?…or that you've simply been getting more chargers to try to correct the hot-charger problem?

Chargers do get warm -- this is normal functioning of a charger. Sometimes quite warm, but again -- still normal.

Are all of these chargers you're using genuine Apple parts bought from actual Apple Stores, or is there any possibility they are knock-offs or counterfeits?
