I have an old PowerBook G4 1.57 sitting around. The trackpad is stuck down. I have removed all the screws but the area around the stuck track pad is still stuck. I have no real reason for fixing the computer other than I just want to. I don't really need it. So not much to loose.

Sorry, forgot to ask the (obvious) question: Any guesses as to what is making the case and/or track pad stick?

The trackpad is stuck down.

I going to guess that what you mean to say is…the trackpad button is stuck down.;)

My guess is the either there is some foriegn sticky matter "gunking" up the button (maybe from a liquid spill or food). Or the trackpad button is simply worn out (old computer).

To fix…probably need to replace the top case (which includes the trackpad). Or just use an external input device.
