iPod 5 unable to join wifi

Greetings! I have an iPod 5 that has begun having troubles connecting to our home wifi. Absolutely nothing has changed, aside from a possible OS update. If I am within about two feet of the router I am able to connect, but any farther and it disconnects. It is able to connect to other unprotected networks but has trouble with anything requiring a password. I have tried resetting network settings, resetting the router, and doing the airplane mode-turn wifi off procedure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you fully restored the iPod, which I assume is the 5th generation iPod touch?
