Not the first time this has been raised on various forums, but I still haven’t found a working solution.

When attempting to backup the hosts file (or any other command in Terminal), this message appears after entering the password.

“[username] is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.”

The username is in fact listed as an admin account in the Users and Groups system prefs. There are no other users enabled to use the computer.

One thing that seems odd in the Terminal window is that the username is shown as all lower case, while the actual name of the computer in the Users and Groups panel starts with an upper case character.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
