I mentioned in a previous post that I'm buying a new IMac Retina Display for Christmas and I was wondering should I upgrade the graphics card? I am not a gamer, I don't even own a video game. I use Lightroom on my Mac for all my photography.

The stock graphics card that it ships with should suffice for what you need. However, if you're thinking about future requirements that you may have, then go ahead and order the better card. Keep in mind that an Apple Store may not have all the various options available with their on shelf stock. You may have to order it from Apple direct.

Thanks of responding. Will an enhanced graphics card make that much difference in my photos?

It is possible to order with upgraded graphics. (AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5)

Suggest you go for it as there is nothing worse than a year or two later 'wishing' you had!

If you are using Lightroom, the better the graphics card the better the programs works. I am sure you are aware that Lightroom loves lots of memory, both computer and graphic card. So I would suggest getting all you can afford.

Thank you for the suggestion. I intend to upgrade the ram from OWC after I get the computer.
