troubleshoot

Because I like a challenge, I love to tinker and once properly up and running this machine will be more than powerful enough for producing music.

Here is what I have and what I have done.

I bought a Mac Pro 1.1 2.6 GHZ 8 Gigs Ram 250 G HD

I have since upgraded it to 3.0 GHZ 16 Gigs Ram, two 1 TB Hard Drives.

I have 2 monitors, one an older Apple that I have to get a power cord for. and a non Apple screen I am using with the help of a DVI/VGA adapter.

Yes, I do have a problem out the gate, my screen does not receive a signal and the while light in front blinks off and on......

What should I look at first?

GeForce 7300 GT 256MB graphics, Western digital HD and OS 10.7.5

and it was a quad core now it is 8 core.

Incase I crossed he graphics wires, I switched them around and same results;

I took out the extra 4 gig of Ram I added and ouch man they were HOT!!!!!!

I restarted the mac up and the flashing light goes away, now I have a flashing gray question mark box flashing on my screen...

All is up and running!!!!

sounds like faulty ram to me

also to fix common errors associated with the mac pro 1.1 use the firmware updater and turn your mac pro 1.1 into a 2.1
