App store updates not working

If I want to search for updates through the app store, I get this message:
An error occurred.
No connection can be made with Apple's software-updateserver.

How can I solve this problem?

Not much you can do to fix that apart from restarting the app and machine and see if it resolves itself. If the program has trouble talking to its server and you aren't having other connectivity issues then its a specific to Apple thing right now..
